PERIOD is designed to address a growing concern among female students experiencing poverty. Often times girls are forced to miss school during menstruation because they do not have access to the proper feminine hygiene care. In partnership with the Palm Beach County School District and the Palm Beach County Health Care District GIVT supplies the Palm Beach County School Clinics with PERIOD bags for those experiencing need. Each PERIOD bag contains a one month supply of feminine pads and are readily available in the School Clinic. Students are encouraged to return monthly for refills. The Nurses serving as the face of our program creates an opportunity for relationship building between the student and a health care professional who can ultimately connect her to resources beyond the pad.
